Karen Deeds
began her career with canines competing in the obedience show ring. Following an incident with her show dog in 1990, resulting in a major behavioral problem, Karen learned the importance of understanding canine behavior and how to manage and modify it.
Karen was the
Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association’s, 2009 “Community Service Award”
winner, for her work in the field of canine aggression. In 2010, Karen received the “Community Educator of the Year Award”, from the Association of Pet Dog Trainers.
In 2013, Karen earned the distinction of becoming one of less than 200 Certified
Dog Behavior Consultants
in the United States through the IAABC (International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants). Requirements included logging over 500 hours and a minimum of three years experience in behavior consulting, 400 hours of continuing education, three written case studies and written discussion of four case scenarios including questions regarding terminology, techniques, assessment and history taking. Due to her expertise in behavior, specifically reactivity and aggression, Karen is sought after to present seminars nationally and to teach her customized Reactive Integration class in both Dallas and Tarrant County. Karen has titled in AKC Obedience and Rally
with her previously rescued Golden Retriever, Cassidy. She is training another rescue, Dempsey, for Frisbee. Karen has a new dog, Tink
(a Hairless American Terrier), that she is training as a demo dog.
Karen also teaches online classes in behavior modification for
Denise Fenzi, in the prestigious Fenzi Dog Sports Academy.

Bob Deeds
is a retired Canine Search Specialist
with Texas Task Force One of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, where he served on numerous high profile disaster deployments. With his esteemed partner, K9 Kinsey, Bob responded to Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks
and supported life saving operations during Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina, Rita, and other major emergencies. Kinsey received the prestigious
PDSA Dickin Medal for Gallantry, the highest international honor awarded to animals for bravery, and was inducted into the Tarrant County Veterinary Medical Association’s Hall of Fame
in 2006.
Throughout his FEMA career, Bob worked with several exceptional canine partners. His later dogs, Gracie (Live Find)
and Remi (Human Remains
Detection), accompanied him on deployments ranging from Hurricanes Dolly and Ike to the devastating Wimberly, Texas floods. In addition to operational work, Bob served as an evaluator, helping to certify FEMA’s urban search and rescue teams across the country. He continues to mentor new handlers preparing to respond to both local and national incidents.
Beyond search and rescue, Bob has competed and titled in AKC Rally
with Gracie, and earned titles in Mondioring
with his Malinois, Mogens. Bob's new black Labradore Retriever Sweet C,
is being trained for the sport of GEOScenting. He is currently in collaboration with Robin Kreubel of K9 Sensus
in Lucas, Iowa, presenting the innovative Chicken Workshop: “Mastering Your Mechanics.”
A lifelong learner, Bob remains committed to staying current with the latest science based training methodologies. He often says, “If you don’t use science, then science will use you,”
a philosophy that reflects his dedication to evidence driven canine training.
Both Bob & Karen
are active in Dog Scouts of America
as instructors at the Texas Mini-Camp, teaching a variety of courses. They even started a new troop, Dog Scouts Mid-South, Troop #250, in the tri-state area near Memphis, TN. They also continue to assess dogs for working potential in various disciplines such as SAR, narcotics, arson, bedbug, and service work. They are currently training a dog for mold detection for a company out of the DFW area, in Texas. Bob and Karen currently perform behavioral evaluations and rehabilitation helping the rescue community better place dogs in adoptive homes.
They teach avariety of obedience, scent detection, and behavior modification classes in the Memphis area.
